A juried exhibition of 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional, and mixed media encaustic art will be held at Columbia River Gallery in Troutdale, Oregon September 22 – October 12, 2011. Artists from around the world, including Greece and Canada, as well as all across the United States were accepted into the show from more than 400 entries. There will be two opening receptions: Thursday, September 22nd at 5:30 p.m., where most artists will be in attendance, and Friday, October 7th, as part of Troutdale’s First Friday Art Walk.
Demonstrations by participating encaustic artists will be held on Saturday October 1st and October 8th, at the Gallery. There is no charge for the demonstrations. Books, materials, and hands-on opportunities will be available.
Jurors included Jerry Gay, a Pulitzer prize winning photographer (Seattle, WA); Gavin Shettler, Creative Director of Milepost 5, a Portland artist community, including galleries, studios, and community creative areas; Stacey Green, Creative Director of Getty Images, and Lee Weinstein, founder and member of the Columbia Gorge arts and Cultural Alliance and a long time supporter of corporate art in the Northwest. Winners will be announced at the annual International Encaustic Association’s Banquet (tickets are available) on Friday evening, September 23, 2011 at Edgefield Resort, Troutdale, OR. Encaustic artists from all across the United States and Canada will be in attendance.
